Ensimmäinen valmis - First WIP finished

Tällainen Afrikankukkaheppa valmistui tänään. Ohje on Heidi Bears designin Fatty Lumpkin. Näitä heppoja olen tehnyt jo aika monta, mutta minusta ne ovat tosi somia. :)

This African flower horse was finished today. The pattern is by Heidi Bears design and is called Fatty Lumpkin. I have made several of these horses already, but I think they are just too cute. :)

Pari tilausheppaa valmistui. Toisen kohdalla arvoin tosi pitkään, miten pyydetyt värit, lila, musta ja valkoinen pitäisi yhdistellä, että tulisi paras loppulos. Tein aika monta testikukkaa, joista osan julkaisin täälläkin. Lopputulos on nähtävänä alla. :) Malli Heidi Bears


I finished two more horses. I had to plan the other one for a long time to figure out how to use the asked purple, black and white to get the best end result. I did do several test flowers and this is how it ended up looking like. :) Horse pattern by Heidi Bears.

Sain viimein päätettyä lila-valko-musta -hepan kukkien suunnittelutyön. Olipa jotenkin tällä kertaa ongelmallista. Mutta tähän päädyin.

A new horse in the making

I finally decided how to use the ordered colors; purple, black and white, in the African flowers for the horse. For some reason it was particularly difficult this time. But this is what I came up with.

Pitäisi tehdä uusi heppa. Toivomus väreistä oli musta, valkoinen ja lila. Vaan missä järjestyksessä. Tein tänään junamatkan ratoksi muutaman testikukkasen. En osaa oikein päättää mikä olisi paras. Väriyhdistelmä kun ei ole oma valinta, on erityisen vaikea päättää. Muussa tapauksessa ehkä en käyttäisi juuri näitä värejä. Täytynee jättää hautumaan. Vaikka toisaalta tekisi mieli jo päästä aloittamaan tämä projekti...

Test flowers

I was asked to make another horse. The wish was to get one in black, white and purple. I cannot decide in which order I will use the colors, so I made some test flowers. Since the colors were not my own choice, it is even harder to decide how to use them, since I do not have a clear vision in beforehand. I guess I will have to let it simmer a bit. Then again, I kind of feel like getting started with this project already...

Eilen valmistui kaksi uutta heppaa. Lila-harmaa, sekä musta-harmaa-valkoinen. Molemmat Heidi Bears designin Fatty Lumpkin -mallista.

A new project

I got a request for a horse that was grey and purple.

Täyttämisvaihe on kriittinen lopputuloksen kannalta. Isoilla möykyillä täytetty pehmolelu on tosi kökön näköinen. Kannattaa käyttää vähän enemmän aikaa täyttämiseen ja muotoilemiseen, niin lopputulos on siisti ja kivan näköinen.


Filling the horse nicely and evenly is very critical in order to get a nicely stuffed animal. If the stuffing is in big lumps the end result will look very unpleasant. Sometimes you see stuffed animals that are very unevenly stuffed. It is worth it to take your time to stuff and shape the project very carefully.

Kannattaa käyttää kunnollista vanua, jonka voi tarvittaessa myös pestä.

It is worth your while to use good quality stuffing, which can also be washed, if necessary.

Fatty Lumpkin

Olen tehnyt myös paljon erilaisia afrikankukkaheppoja. Kesälomalla ennätin virkata aika monta. Niistä suurin osa meni lahjaksi eri paikkoihin. Tässä kuvia muutamista. Itse heppaihmisenä tämä malli on lähellä sydäntäni. ;) Tämäkin on Heidi Bears design mallista "Fatty Lumpkin".

I have also crocheted several African flower horses/ponies. During my summer holiday I had a lot of time to crochet. <3 Most of these were made as gifts. Here are a few of them. As a horsey person myself, this is one of my favorite designs by Heidi Bears.
