Hiirulaisystävät ja pari muutakin juttua - Mice Friends and some other finished WIP's

Sainpa viimein kootuksi nämä hiirikaverukset. Osat ovat olleet virkattuina ja täytettyinä viikkokausia, mutta en vain ole saanut aikaiseksi kasata niitä. Hiiret ovat hollantilaisen Stip&Haakin suunnittelemia ja niiden ohjeen voi ostaa Stip&Haakin kotisivuilta. Lankana on käytetty Stylecraftin Special DK:ta, jota minulle on kertynyt aivan valtavat varastot, joten hyvä kun sain pari kerää käytettyä taas pois. Koukkuna oli 3 mm koukku. Hiiristä tuli tosi suuria, en tiedä välittyykö se kuvasta, mutta olin yllättynyt siitä, miten isoja niistä tuli. Minusta nämä hiiret ovat tosi somia, vaikka aluperin en ollut ihan varma siitä miellyttääkö tämä ohje minua erityisesti.
Sain tänään myös valmiiksi toisen parin sukkia Regian 6-säikeisestä sukkalangasta. Kerä on 200 g ja käytin 3,5 mm puikkoja ja tämä oli siis toinen, kokolailla samankokoinen pari (koko 38) tästä yhdestä kerästä, eli aika mukavan riittoisa lankakerä. Lanka on mukavan pehmeää kutoa ja erityisen mukava jalassa. Nämä sukat teinkin, kuten edellisenkin parin, ihan vain itselleni kotisukiksi.
Lisäksi sain tiistaina valmiiksi pienelle poikavauvalle menevän kettu-unirievun. Ohje on One&Two Companyn ja sen voi ostaa Ravelrysta. Samanlaisen tein alkuvuodesta veljenpojalleni, Jonille hänen syntymälahjakseen. Tänä sunnuntaina ovat Jonin ristiäiset ja julkaisen sitten millaisen lahjan tein Jonille hänen ristiäisiinsä.

I finally finished these mice friends! I have crocheted and stuffed all of the parts weeks ago, but never just got around to sew the parts together. The pattern for the mice is by the Dutch Stip&Haak. I usen Stylecraft Special DK and a 3 mm hook. I have a huge stash of this yarn, so I was happy to get rid of a few skeins on these cuties. The mice turned out quite large, I am not sure whether it really shows in the pictures how big they are, but I was surprised by the size. I think these mice are soooo cute, even though I was not originally quite sure whether I loved the pattern or not. 
I also finished a pair of woolen socks today. The yarn is Regia 6 ply and I used 3,5 mm needles. This is a big skein, 200 grams, and I was able to make to pairs of socks (size 38) with it, so quite nice. I really like this yarn, it is very soft to knit and the socks feel nice when you wear them. These socks I made just for myself to wear at home. 
Also, this Tuesday, I finished this Fox security blanket for a little boy. I made the same security blanket earlier this year to my nephew, who is Christened this Sunday. After the Christening, I will show you what I made for him.

Kurnuttavat kruunupäät - The Royal Frogs

Sammakkolinja jatkuu. Olen nyt useamman viikon ajan työstänyt sekä näitä sammakoita, että muutamaa muuta projektia, joista lisää myöhemmin. Kummipoikani synttärilahja mm. pitäisi vielä saada ennen lauantaita valmiiksi. Nämä kuninkaalliset sammakot on suunnitellut Heidi Bears design  (Tomato the African Flower Frog) ja myös näissä on perusmotiivina afrikankukat. Tämä oli ensimmäisiä Heidi Bearsin ohjeita, jonka ostin n. 2 vuotta sitten. Tätäkään en ole vain aikaisemmin saanut kokeiltua. Nyt kun sitten ryhdyin hommaan, se karkasi vähän käsistä... Lopputuloksena nämä neljä komeaa kruunupäätä.

Lankana kolmessa sammakossa on puuvillasekoitelanka ja yhdessä, tummanvihreässä, Stylecraft Special DK akryylilanka. Langat ovat suunnilleen saman paksuisia, joten sammakoistakin tuli suunnilleen saman kokoisia.
On mielenkiintoista, miten erilaisilta värit näyttävät toisia värejä vastan. Sammakoissa, joissa toisessa on pohjavärinä vaalean (haalean) vihreä ja toisessa tummanpunainen, on muutoin täysin identtiset kukat. Silti sammakot näyttävät hyvinkin erilaisilta.
Näissä sammakoissa oli aika paljon taas näperreltävää, piti ommella kiinni silmät, jalat ja kruunut sekä kutoa ja virkata erilliset varpaat sammakoille. Eli aika paljon hommaa. Lopputulos on mielestäni kuitekin aika hauska, vai mitä? :)


The Froggy theme continues! I have been working on these frogs for several weeks now, as well as some other projects. For example my grandson's birthday present, which must be ready by Saturday. These royal frogs are designed by Heidi Bears design (Tomato the African Flower Frog) and also these are worked up with the African Flower motif. I bought the pattern about two years ago. It was actually one of the first ones by Heidi Bears I have purchased. Just never got around to trying it out. And now that I finally did, it sort of got out of hand... I ended up with four little royal froggies. 
The yarn used in three of these frogs is a cotton blend and in the dark green one Stylecraft Special DK, which is an acrylic yarn. The yarns used are approximately the same weight so the frogs ended up pretty much the same size.
It is interesting how the color vary depending what they are held next to. For example the motifs used in both the red based and the light green on are exactly the same. But they still end up looking very different having different yarn around them, don't they?
These frogs took up quite a while to make, since there was a lot of different things to do. Crocheting the motifs and the crowns and sewing up the eyes, legs, crowns and knitting the i-cords for the toes. I love the end result though!


Tämän kaverin kruunusta tuli hieman vetelä. Akryylilanka ei ehkä ollut ihan parhaimmillaan tässä osuudessa.

I think that the acrylic yarn was not the best choice for the crown, since it ended up a bit loose.

Näillä jaloilla kelpaa ponnistaa! :)

The Carousel CAL parts 2&3

Sain tällä viikolla työstettyä kolmososaa Carouselleihini. Olen ollut kovassa flunssassa, joten virkkaaminen ei ole ollut ihan ensimmäisenä mielessä, mutta eilen ja tänään on ollut jo parempi olo, joten työtkin ovat taas edistyneet. :) Harmaassa on vielä kuvassa muutama lanka pääteltävänä ja viltit olisi hyvä jossain välissä pingotttaakin. En malttanut jättää tätä kimppavirkkausprojektia yhden, enkä kahdenkaan viltin varaan, vaan innostuin lopulta tekemään neljä erilaista Carousel vilttiä. Tuo batik- versio on siis ainut valmis värikombinaatio, muut kolme olen suunnitellut itse. Tein ihan ensimmäisenä tuon lilan sävyisen keskiosan, jonka purinkin osittain kertaalleen, koska värit eivät toimineet haluamallani tavalla siinä järjestyksessä miten ne ensimmäiseen yritykseen laitoin ja päädyin siksi vaihtamaan värien järjestystä. Toisena tein tuon ruskean ja sitten kolmantena harmaan sävyisen. Bati-lankapaketin tulo kesti niin kauan, että ehdin siis tehdä jo kolme muuta aloitusta ennen sitä. Tässä muutama kuva kolmanteen osaa edenneestä Carousellista, jonka ohjeet löytyvät täältä Stylecraftin sivuilta. Neljäs osa julkaistaan ensi viikolla. Lankana minulla siis Stylecraftin Special DK. Tämä on todella kiva malli ja sen parissa on ollut hauskaa virkkailla.


I had a chance to finish the part threes for my four Carousel CAL's. I have had the flu and have not been able to crochet much earlier on this week, but luckily towards the end of the week I have been feeling better and been able to crochet. The gray one still needs some ends weaved in and they all need some blocking at some point. 
So, I couldn't just leave this lovely project to one or even to pieces, I just had to make four! The batik-one was a ready made color pack, which I purchased for this CAL, but the colorways for the other three I designed myself. The first one I made was the purple one, which I once already frogged almost all the way through, since I was not happy with the way it turned out, the colors didn't work in that order, so I had to redo it. The second one was the brown one and the third was the gray and jewel-toned one. It took me so long to get the batik color pack from Deramores that I ended up finishing three more than I originally planned before the yarn arrived.

Carousel CAL

Uusi CAL, eli crochet along ("yhteisvirkkausprojekti"), alkoi tämän viikon tiistaina, 13.9.2016. Mallin on suunnitellut Sue Pinner ja se löytyy Stylecraftin sivuilta. Tämä yhteisvirkkausprojekti on Stylecraftin sponsoroima ja siihen on olemassa valmiita lankapaketteja, joita voi tilata esimerkiksi Deramoresilta. Pohdin aluksi pitkään lähtisinkö tekemään tätä tavallisilla Stylecraftin Special DK langoilla vaiko uusilla batik-langoilla, jotka ovat kauhean kalliita, kääk. Kirkkaat värit olivat omalla tavallaan houkuttelevia, mutta ajan patinoiman näköinen lopputulos batikista houkutteli sitten kuitenkin enemmän. Tilasin langat vasta viime viikolla ja odottelen vielä niitä. Tälle virkkausprojektille on olemassa omat facebook-sivutkin. Siellä on niin paljon ihania aloituksia ja väriyhdistelmiä, että päätin aloittaa batik-lankoja odotellessani toisenkin karusellin. :D Minulla on (valitettavan?) suuri Stylecraft Special DK-varasto vanhastaan (onneksi mieheni ei ihan tarkkaan ole perillä siitä, miten suuri... ;) ) ja päätin aloittaa oman, violetin sävyisen versioni, jolle annoin nimeksi "Purple magic". Alla kuva valmiista ensimmäisestä osasta. Ensimmäinen osa oli kiva ja nopea tehdä.
Viikonlopun aikana koitan saada kaikki hepat valmiiksi ja sitten vielä yhden lampaan. Mutta sitten pääsen jatkamaan erilaisia viltti-projektejani, joista tämä uusi karuselli siis on yksi. No, onhan noita keskeneräisiä juttuja muutama muukin vielä. :D Mutta kyllä ne kaikki pikkuhiljaa valmistuvat.




There is this new CAL (crochet along) that started this Tuesday, September 13. The cal is called the Carousel and it is designed by Sue Pinner. The free pattern may be found at Stylecraft's web page. This crochet along is sponsored by Stylecraft and there are two official yarn color packs available. One in the bright regular Stylecraft Special DK and the other one in the new batik yarn. You can order the color packs from several different places, I got mine from Deramores. It took me a while to decide which one I liked better. The bright colors were very tempting but there was something about the old, even faded look about the batik one that made me go with it. Although that one was twice as expensive as the other one... I ordered the color pack a bit late, only last week, so I am still waiting on it. However, having joined the Carousel Cal Facebook group I saw so many great new color combos, I decided to start a second (first!) one based on my stash of Stylecraft Special DK, which is quite large (larger than my husband knows, luckily) ;) I decided to go with a purple color scheme and I call my Carousel "Purple Magic". The first part was pretty quick to make, which was nice. 
I will try to finish all the horses during the weekend, make one more sheep and then continue on my blankets, this carousel only being one of many... :) Well, there may also be a few other wip's, but they will all get done in due time. :)
