Yksisarvinen - Unicorn

Tein ystävälleni tällaisen Yksisarvinen-viltin. Ohje on Momma's Jampackista ja lankana on käytetty akryylilankaa Stylecraft Special Aran. Koukku on 5,5 mm koukku. Nämä viltit ovat aika suuritöisiä, mutta tässä viltissa ei ole kuin kahta väriä ja kuva on suhteellisen yksinkertainen, joten se osaltaan helpottaa ja nopeuttaa työtä. Viltti on virkattu edestakaisin kiinteillä silmukoilla käyttäen bobbins-tekniikkaa, missä lankoja ei katkaista tarpeettomasti, eikä kuljeteta myöskään mukana, koska tällöin langat näkyvät ikävästi kudoksen välistä. Bobbinssit ovat pieniä lankarullia tai pikemminkin pienten lankarullien pidikkeitä, joiden avulla lankaa pystyy vaihtamaan ilman ylimääräistä katkaisua tai langan kuljettamista. Googlaamalla "Bobbins technique" löytyy kyllä esim. youtubesta ohjeistusta asiaan. Tästä tuli mukavan iso ja lämmin viltti ystävälleni toivotuissa väreissä, toivottavasti lämmittää häntä monta vuotta.


I made this Unicorn-blanket for a friend of mine. The pattern is by Momma's Jampack and the yarn used is an acrylic yarn, Stylecraft Special Aran. The hook I used was a 5.5 mm hook. These blankets do take an awful lot of time to make, but since this one only has two colors and the picture is quite straight forward, it did make the project go a lot smoother. The blanket is crocheted with single crochet using the bobbins technique, where you do not cut the yarn unnecessarily and do not run the yarn with the other color either. I don't like the style where the yarn is run together, since it shows unevenly and doesn't look very nice. Bobbins are small skeins of yarns or really the little things you form the little skeins over to and help you with your work so you can easily switch colors and don't have to cut the yarn nor run it together with the other color. Please google "bobbins technique" and you will find several instructions how to do it from for example youtube.
This turned out to be a very nice big blanket to my friend in the colors she requested. I hope it will keep her warm for many years to come.
